Unpaid Work, but They Pay for Privilege →
This article made me angry. As it is, the only students who can afford to work unpaid internships are those whose parents are already completely supporting them throughout college. Either that, or they have to struggle to balance schoolwork, an unpaid internship and a paid job just to get them through. I think unpaid internships are unacceptable, and paying $8,000 to obtain an internship is bordering on criminal. Talented kids aren’t going to be able to get the work experience they need for their desired career path because they have to compete with this ridiculousness.
(Interesting to note: The New York Times had an intern write this article.)
